The Daemonic

January 27, 2010
The ancient Greeks had an idea that when you were about to birth, you were given a Daemon to be the guardian of your soul.  Its task was to remind you throughout your life of the natural forces, the passions and values, the capacities both generic and personal that belong to you.  It was not an idea based on moral standards, nor founded in any conditions pertaining to right and wrong.  The Daemons task was to keep you honest to your life.

If we interpret this idea in a modern idiom we are dealing with a psychological medium, the inner world of your consciousness.  What it points to is the fact that you have within you forces that if not acknowledged will find a way to express themselves in order to be found.  Often the way this happens is through a destructive expression, as it does take a sleepy mind a wee knock to wake up.  This will show up in your life in the form of some behaviour that is most likely abhorrent to you.  Our usual and orthodox response is to target the behaviour and modify or learn to manage one’s self in order to be more functional.  What this does is submit the natural force that was asking to be recognised to the depths, and forever more you are asked to manage, watch and take care of this thing that you do that is perceived as bad.

If you shift your relationship to what you do, and rather than looking at it on face value ask yourself what is this behaviour expressing that I am not willing to look at.  And I do not mean in a dysfunctional way.  I mean from the perspective of something that is great in you, something inherent that is seeking a voice.

When we heed the voice of the Daemon we find a friend, the very things that have been destructive in our lives can transform and become constructive allies in the quest of meaning and pleasure; deep pleasure that comes from within.

Body And Soul

January 25, 2010
It is a general opinion that the soul lives somewhere inside our bodies, and that when we die, the body perishes while the soul takes flight.  I challenge anyone to point within their flesh and bones and show me where the soul is.  I have not seen it yet, am I looking in the wrong place.

I am not of the opinion that the soul is inside me.  I consider it to be the other way round; that the body is in the soul.  Our bones, our heart, our brain, are all contained within our body, and all of thi...

Own Your Soul

January 24, 2010
The first and primary principle of my practice is that “All is Consciousness”. That everything in existence, all expression of life, be it organic or manufactured exists within a consciousness that is the totality of all, and that this very same consciousness exists within everything.  Consciousness then is the substance, the medium that we get to play with and indeed play within.

The second principle is that “Wholeness is not Optional”. The implication of such a statement is that not...

Right Here Right Now.

January 23, 2010
The search for what we cannot see, never can comprehend, leads us down the path of folly and forever seeking.  To address the aspects of life that are readable, recognisable, what we can identify as here, that is the path I wish to pursue.  I do not know if I have had lives before, or will have them again.  I may postulate this idea; use it as a principle, dream of what was and what will be next time around.  Yet this is the life I am in.  This is the life I have to live and work with.  It is...

Thoughts As Creator

January 22, 2010
As I consider the notion that thoughts create our reality, I am drawn to the various flashes over a day in my own mind.  I am glad that thoughts alone do not create reality, as I would be in a frightful place.  In fact I think the world would be.  I know what I sometimes think in a day, catching that subtle play of images and ideas that race across my screen.  And I assume that every human being on the planet has experienced at different times thoughts of an unsavoury nature as well as though...

An Empathetic Soul

January 21, 2010
I think we all have an understanding to some degree of what empathy means.  I will be bold enough to say we comprehend that it refers to the ability to feel for another, feel what they are feeling.  As I scour the many definitions, one in particular jumped out at me.  It is from the Chambers 11th edition.  It defines empathy in its first case as: “ The power of entering another’s personality and imaginatively experiencing his or her experiences”.  Now there are two things here that drew...

“Wholeness Is Not Optional”

January 20, 2010
The greatest task any of us face is to live with ourselves.  It is neither our family nor partners, not the nation next door, nor the boogieman in the closet, that pose the greatest threat to our sense of freedom and fulfilment.  These experiences rest in your own hands.  It is through accepting yourself, coming to know whom you are and living that consciously that will bring you freedom and fulfilment.

The human condition is one of separation; that belongs there this over here.  We categori...

Jargon Of Soul

January 19, 2010
Words and the use of them can be employed to the extent that they loose their meaning.  They become pat, stock trade in our exchanges.  We are no long required to consider what we say as the little pocket book of phrases and words jumbled out to cover the plot of anything that is happening do it for us.  The environment of personal development and conscious raising work seems to be particularly prone to such conditioning of language.  I myself am equally susceptible to communicate with predet...

Objective Truth

January 18, 2010
Amongst the wonderful discoveries that we have come to know, is the fact that each person has their own perception of reality, that our personal filters and inherent eye, sees life differently from the person next door.  While this contribution has allowed a inclusion of the individual state, and encourages a diverse range of view points, what it potentially develops is a lack of the understanding of sameness.  The ability to see humanity as gifted with the same fundamental capacities and att...

Context

October 18, 2009
We can not help but give context to life. We can not help put meaning on life. As human beings we are built that way.  Even if we say that life has no meaning, that is the meaning we are giving it.  When we take the time to give our lives context, what we are in fact doing is providing ourselves with a container, a bedrock, an idea to measure things by.  So to  explore what context you are giving to life is not doing something that is foreign to you.  Doing it consciously perhaps is, though o...

About Me

Phillip C Gordon I am an Alchemist, falling into the fires of transformation over and over as I realise the gold that I am. I choose to serve all humanity to that end, to raise the consciousness of humanity, one by one if that be the case. I am a writer, a speaker, an actor and fool.
